![]() WINTER 2016-2017 PART 1 OCEAN WATER TEMPERATURES In case you missed them I’ve been previewing the upcoming winter in a series of posts and videos. Radar summary is very quiet for the NYC Area. Dry air and comfortable temps hold strong between the two systems. Lower 48 satellite shows one low pressure meandering off of the east coast, while the blizzard in the upper mid-west starts to ramp up. ![]() Expect seas 1ft seas in the lower Harbor and Jamaica Bay, 1-2ft seas off of Coney Island. Friday will be a repeat performance, but slightly warmer with highs in the mid 60’s.įor those who still have their boats in the water, today and Friday will give you one last opportunity to get some good striper fishing and local structure fishing in before the weather starts to become more active. ![]() Expect sunny skies today, with highs in the lower 60’s through most of the area, even the immediate coast (Coney Island, Breezy Point, Rockaway) getting in on the pleasant weather. This time of year, whenever we see above normal temps, it usually happens when a weak to moderate high settles over us, creating sinking air that warms up nicely. In our area, a high pressure system will slowly head directly over us, bringing light NW winds and sinking air. As a powerful system enters the upper plains, warm air will be drawn up ahead of it. Beautiful NYC Weather today – Good morning everyone, what a day today will turn out to be! You can’t really ask for much more during mid-November.
